Sample untreated cold water after normal flushing. Record whether the result is in grains per gallon or milligrams per liter as calcium carbonate.
Do not overread a strip
A quick field test can guide sizing, but it cannot prove drinking-water safety or identify every cause of staining and odor.

Lehi City publishes an annual Consumer Confidence Report and says it manages culinary-water wells, storage and distribution. The 2025 report is the current safety reference; final softener sizing should still use a measurement at the residence.
