Before equipment is selected
Ask the installer to measure untreated hardness at the home and document the unit. City reports are valuable safety context, but the latest Lehi report does not publish one citywide hardness number for sizing.
- Test at a representative untreated tap
- Count regular occupants and peak-use fixtures
- Measure available pressure and main-line size
- Confirm drain, power, overflow and freeze protection
What belongs in the proposal
Look for usable resin volume, service flow, programmed capacity at the stated salt dose, control-valve model, bypass plan, labor, startup, warranty and ongoing maintenance.
Lehi planning range
A straightforward metered whole-home installation often budgets around $1,400–$3,800. Premium valves, twin tanks, plumbing changes, filtration or difficult drain routing can exceed that range. Confirm a written site-specific quote.
Questions
Make the next conversation clearer.
How long does installation take?+
A straightforward prepared location may be completed in one visit. New plumbing, drain work, tight access or added filtration can extend the job.
Should exterior taps be softened?+
Many households bypass irrigation and some hose bibs. Decide the layout with the installer before piping begins.
